About Appliance Checkup
Buying or selling a used fridge, washer or range usually means guessing: how old is it, has it been recalled, how long will it last, and is the price fair? Appliance Checkup puts those answers in one place, using published data and showing the sources.
Who runs the site
The site is run by Appliance Checkup editorial team, a small independent team of two:
- Research and data. A data analyst with an MBA and more than seven years of experience analysing US consumer-product and e-commerce data. Builds the tools and checks every figure against its source.
- Editing and review. A business analyst with a BS and an MBA and years of experience at multinational companies in consumer goods and energy. Reviews each page for accuracy, clarity and fair treatment of brands.
That background shapes how we work: we collect what manufacturers, regulators and published studies say, test our tools against real examples, and explain the limits of every estimate. We are not appliance technicians, so we never give repair, gas or electrical instructions, and we point you to a qualified technician for safety questions.
We're not appliance technicians. We don't claim to have inspected or tested appliances. When we add hands-on reports from contributors in the U.S., each report will carry the contributor's name, city, date and photos.

- We never give gas or electrical repair instructions; hire a licensed technician.
